Our Campaigns

Since its creation in 2003 the EUPM has helped implement several public information campaigns and supported the TV programme Nerijesen slucaj, prompting citizens to help police solve cold cases.

Your police is the third campaign the EUPM implements jointly with all law enforcement agencies in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The first two campaigns were respectively Choose Life, not Drugs and Not faster than life.

In the summer of 2007 law enforcement agencies throughout the country carried out a set of mini-campaigns to raise awareness about such issues as domestic violence, traffic safety and juvenile delinquency.

‘YOUR POLICE’

EUPM and BiH law enforcement agencies launched a joint campaign to raise awareness about police accountability on 15 March 2007.

Under the slogan Your Security, Our Obligation, this campaign aims to strengthen cooperation between citizens and police. Police officers throughout the country prompt citizens to share information with them by calling the country-wide ‘122’ number.

‘SAFE SUMMER’ CAMPAIGNS

In the summer of 2007 law enforcement agencies throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina addressed several security issues, such as juvenile delinquency, domestic violence, and property theft and traffic safety. They carried out regional, as well as country-wide awareness-raising activities.

Choose Life, not Drugs

The EUPM and the BiH law enforcement agencies implemented this campaign from June to December 2006 with the aim of raising awareness about the dangers of drug abuse. During the campaign EUPM and local police organised a series of activities to educate young people about the hazardous effects of drugs. Simultaneously, the campaign also aimed to re-intensify the role of parents in recognising the vulnerability of their children towards drugs. The campaign was implemented in partnership with health and educational institutions, NGOs and other stakeholders.

Not faster than life

Within the first two months of 2006 the local police, supported by the EUPM, aimed to educate and inform citizens about the necessity to know and comply with traffic safety rules. Amongst other issues, the campaign focused on driver and pedestrian visibility, as well as on the dangers of speeding and driving under the influence of alcohol.

NERIJESEN SLUCAJ

The TV show Nerijesen Slucaj (Unsolved Case) is a project initialised by the EUPM press department. Inspired from television shows such as the German Aktenzeichen XY (which was the first show of this kind world wide) or Crimewatch in the United Kingdom, the programme was first aired on 5 October 2005.

Initially funded by the UK Embassy to Bosnia and Herzegovina and the EU Police Mission, the programme aims to create a new culture of greater civic responsibility to fight crime. It prompts citizens to share information about unsolved cases with the police via the anonymous and toll-free Krimolovci crime hotline.

Krimolovci

The Krimolovci hotline is a project initiated by the EU Police Mission’s press department.

Since 1 March 2004, this anonymous and toll-free hotline has provided the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina with the opportunity to share information about unsolved cases with the police.
