FIRST JUVENILE PRISON OPENS IN EAST SARAJEVO
Sarajevo, 02 October 2008 – The first juvenile prison of Bosnia and Herzegovina was officially opened in East Sarajevo yesterday. The EU Police Mission (EUPM) welcomes the establishment of this juvenile detention centre and hopes that this will be a first step towards a decrease of juvenile offences and a better reintegration of juvenile offenders into society.
 
“As a matter of fact, this represents a first step towards the fulfilment of the recommendations of the international community with regard to the enforcement of sanctions in the prison system of the country,” says Claus Andersin, EUPM’s Detention System Expert.
