RS and Tuzla Police seize weapons, grenades in Doboj

Doboj, 4 March 2010 - Continuing the activities in the operation “Network 2010”, officers of the Republika Srpska (RS) Ministry of Interior Crime Department, Doboj Public Security Center (PSC) and Tuzla Canton Police searched twelve locations in Doboj area, seizing large quantities of firearms, ammunition, explosives and military equipment.

The searches uncovered 27 rifles, two snipers, a shoulder rocket launcher, seven handguns, four grenades, 50 meters of slow-burning fuse, 16,700 bullets of different calibers, and a number of weapons spare parts,” said Ljerka Stanimirović, Doboj PSC Spokesperson. “The police also seized records on weapon sales and more than 50 vehicle registration certificates and license plates, which are suspected of being falsified.”

Nine persons were interrogated during the operation, and the reports on police findings on unauthorized production and trafficking in firearms or explosive materials forwarded to Doboj County Prosecutor’s Office.

To remind, operation “Network 2010” started on February 2 when RS Police arrested 10 persons and seized 1.279 grams of marijuana, 754 grams of "speed", 44,2 grams of heroin, 50 grams of cocaine, 339 tablets, 200 cartons of cigarettes, 17 rifles, five handguns, a large quantity of ammunition, eight stolen vehicles, car-theft tools, and a number of other stolen items.
