Busting crime rings: Republika Srpska Police arrests 102

Banja Luka, 3 February 2010. – Republika Srpska Police arrested 102 persons and seized significant quantities of narcotics and weapons in an extensive operation implemented yesterday on the entire territory of the entity and aimed at busting organized crime rings that dealt with drug trafficking, car thefts and cigarette smuggling.
“We had search orders for 98 locations in Republika Srpska and Brčko District,” said Uroš Pena, RS Police Director, adding that several old robbery and aggravated theft cases were also solved within this action.
More than 540 police officers took part in the operation, dubbed "Network 2010", seizing 1.279 grams of marijuana, 754 grams of "speed", 44,2 grams of heroin, 50 grams of cocaine, 339 tablets, 200 cartons of cigarettes, 17 rifles, five handguns, a large quantity of ammunition, eight stolen vehicles, car-theft tools, and a number of other stolen items.
After the questioning, ten arrestees will be handed over to competent prosecutors’ offices for further processing.
